In recent days we lost one of our local bald eagles.
He was senselessly shot, and severely wounded, by some sorry excuse for a human being (whom I hope that catch and prosecute vigorously). Eventually he had to be euthanized due to his catastrophic injuries, despite a heroic effort to save him (thank you Dr. Rose at Greywolf Veterinary Hospital, and Jaye at the Raptor Center).
Highly likely, with as often as I am out photographing them, that that eagle has been the subject of some of my photos. Sadly, there’s no way to know.
I offer this photo in his honor.
